Focus and Scope

Averrous is a peer-reviewed and open-access journal that focuses on promoting medical sciences generated from basic sciencesclinical, and community or public health research to integrate researches in all aspects of human health. This journal publishes original articlesreviews, and also interesting case reportsBrief communications containing short features of medicine, latest developments in diagnostic procedures, treatment, or other health issues that is important for the development of health care system are also acceptable. Correspondence articles of our own published articles are welcome. The scope of interest includes but is not limited to:

  1. Biomedical sciences: anatomy and physiology, cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics and molecular biology, immunology, mathematics and statistics, and bioinformatics.
  2. Clinical medicine: internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, psychiatry, radiology, pulmonary medicine, dermatology and venereology, infectious diseases, anesthesiology, cardiology, cancer research, endocrinology, urology, neurosurgery, geriatric medicine, gastroenterology, neurology, nephrology, ophthalmology, dentistry, immunology, infertility, hematology, medical genetics, laboratory medicine, medical statistics, clinical psychology, clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology.
  3. Global, international and public health: climate change, reduction of disparities, and protection against global threats, tropical medicine, travel medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, social sciences and management of health services, maternal and child health, environmental health, community health, behavioral health, health economics, public policy, mental health, health education, occupational safety, gender issues in health, and sexual and reproductive health.
  4. Health profession education/ Medical Education.
  5. Interdisciplinary research articles that are found appropriate by the editor.

Peer Review Process

The submitted manuscript is first reviewed by the editor. It will be evaluated whether it is in accordance with the focus and scope of the AVERROUS: Jurnal Kedokteran dan Kesehatan Malikussaleh Journal. Manuscripts that are not in accordance will be rejected and manuscript is accordance will be checked to identify plagiarism before being reviewed by reviewers.

AVERROUS: Jurnal Kedokteran dan Kesehatan Malikussaleh Journal uses a double-blind review, the manuscript will be sent to 2 anonymous reviewers. The reviewers' comments are also sent anonymously to the authors to take the necessary actions and responses. Revised manuscript decisions will be evaluated by the appropriate editor, based on reviewers' recommendations, that is, rejected, requires major revisions, requires minor revisions, or is accepted.

The editor in Chief AVERROUS: Jurnal Kedokteran dan Kesehatan Malikussaleh Journal has the right to decide which manuscript submitted to the journal for publication. The review process may take approximately one month to be completed. For accepted paper, should authors be requested by the editor to revise the text and minor changes, the revised version should be submitted within 15 days

AVERROUS: Jurnal Kedokteran dan Kesehatan Malikussaleh Journal is a peer-reviewed electronic journal. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal.

Plagiarism
AVERROUS: Jurnal Kedokteran dan Kesehatan Malikussaleh Journal is committed to publishing only original material, i.e., material that has neither been published elsewhere nor is under review elsewhere. Manuscripts that are found to have been plagiarized from a manuscript by other authors, whether published or unpublished, will incur plagiarism sanctions.

Editor

  1. The editor of AVERROUS: Jurnal Kedokteran dan Kesehatan Malikussaleh Journal is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
  2. An editor at any time evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
  3. The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
  4. Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Authors

  1. Authors should present an accurate account of the original research performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Researchers should present their results honestly and without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation. A manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable. Manuscripts should follow the submission guidelines of the journal.
  2. Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original work. The manuscript should not be submitted concurrently to more than one publication unless the editors have agreed to co-publication. Relevant previous work and publications, both by other researchers and the authors’ own, should be properly acknowledged and referenced. The primary literature should be cited where possible. Original wording taken directly from publications by other researchers should appear in quotation marks with the appropriate citations.
  3. The author should not, in general, submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. It is also expected that the author will not publish redundant manuscripts or manuscripts describing the same research in more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Multiple publications arising from a single research project should be clearly identified as such and the primary publication should be referenced
  4. Authors should acknowledge all sources of data used in the research and cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.
  5. The authorship of research publications should accurately reflect individuals’ contributions to the work and its reporting. Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution or interpretation of the reported study. Others who have made a significant contribution must be listed as co-authors. In cases where major contributors are listed as authors while those who made less substantial, or purely technical, contributions to the research or to the publication are listed in an acknowledgment section. Authors also ensure that all the authors have seen and agreed to the submitted version of the manuscript and their inclusion of names as co-authors.
  6. All authors should clearly disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
  7. If the author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in the submitted manuscript, then the author should promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

Reviewers

  1. Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.
  2. Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.
  3. Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
  4. Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
  5. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
  6. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

 

Plagiarism and Retraction Policy

AVERROUS: Jurnal Kedokteran dan Kesehatan Malikussaleh Journal does not tolerate plagiarism because it establishes a retraction policy when plagiarism is identified in articles submitted for publication. Plagiarism was identified based on similarity with similarity maximum tolerance of 25% which was examined using Turnitin checking software in detecting the similarity of text in articles.

When plagiarism is identified, the Editor in Chief is responsible for reviewing this paper and will provide a policy for the plagiarism detected in the paper.

The author who submitted the manuscript with similarities ranges from 15% -25% that policy is a warning given to the author and request to change the text and properly cite the original article so that the similarity maximum of 25%. If the level of similarity is greater than 25% then the article will be rejected.

 

Ensuring Blind Review

To ensure the integrity of the blind peer-review for submission to this press, every effort should be made to prevent the identities of the authors and reviewers from being known to each other. This involves the authors, editors, and reviewers (who upload documents as part of their review) checking to see if the following steps have been taken with regard to the text and the file properties:

  • The authors of the document have deleted their names from the text, with "Author" and year used in the references and footnotes, instead of the authors' name, article title, etc.
  • With Microsoft Office documents, author identification should also be removed from the properties for the file. You can find instructions to do this on Microsoft's support pages, such as this one: remove-hidden-data-and-personal-information-by-inspecting-documents-presentations-or-workbooks 
  • With PDFs, the authors' names should also be removed from Document Properties found under File on Adobe Acrobat's main menu.
