OPTIMALISASI NILAI TAMBAH KOMODITAS PINANG SEBAGAI STRATEGI PENINGKATAN KESEJAHTERAAN PETANI DI ACEH
Abstract
This study aims to identify the value-added potential of areca nut commodities and formulate optimization strategies to improve farmers' welfare in Aceh. Using value chain analysis, SWOT analysis, and policy evaluation, the research reveals that the highest value addition in the areca nut supply chain occurs in the processing and marketing stages. However, most farmers are only involved in the production stage, which generates low value addition. The SWOT analysis highlights the main strengths of areca nut development in Aceh, including abundant land availability, superior product quality, and stable market demand. Meanwhile, weaknesses such as limited processing technology and market access pose significant challenges. Policy evaluation indicates that while government support exists, current policies do not fully support the optimization of areca nut value addition, particularly in field implementation. Strategic recommendations include enhancing processing technology, diversifying products, strengthening market access, and developing supporting infrastructure. With proper implementation, areca nut can become a strategic agribusiness sector contributing to sustainable economic development in Aceh.
