Focus and Scope

Acta Aquatica: Aquatic Sciences Journal is a scientific open-access journal in the field of aquatic sciences, published periodically (April, August, and December) by the Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Malikussaleh (Malikussaleh University) in cooperation with Department of Aquaculture Universitas Malikussaleh. Acta Aquatica publishes original research, overviews and reviews relating to aquatic environments (wetlands, freshwater and marine waters) and the border limits of these environmental systems and the impacts of human activities on the environmental systems.

Acta Aquatica has a related study in aquatic biotechnology, aquatic renewable energy, aquatic bioecology, aquaculture, hydrology, biodiversity of aquatic biosphere, oceanology, exploitation and exploration technology of aquatic resources, fisheries product technology, aquatic microbiology, aquatic modelling, aquatic geographic information systems, and socio-economic of aquatic resources.

Acta Aquatica: Aquatic Sciences Journal is a scientific open access journal in the field of aquatic sciences, published periodically 3 (three) times a year (April, August, and December).

Peer Review Process

All Acta Aquatica journal manuscripts are peer-reviewed by at least one reviewers, and usually two reviewers, of the journals  Editorial Review Board of experts in fields specifically matching the journal topics. Papers are reviewed, double-blind, in full publishable form; no journal manuscripts are accepted based only upon submission of an abstract. Reviewers are required to provide the author with comments intended to improve the content, style, and other issues which should improve the quality of the article.

Journal History

In 2014 - 2020 the Acta Aquatica Journal: Aquatic Sciences Journal was formed and led by Munawar Khalil with 2 published editions each year, namely April and October.

In 2019 the Acta Aquatica Journal: Aquatic Sciences Journal received Sinta 3 accreditation from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education with Decree Number: 30/E/KPT/2019.

In 2020 - present, the Editor in Chief of the journal Acta Aquatica: Aquatic Sciences Journal was handed over to Dr. Prama Hartami to manage the journal until now.

Due to a large number of researchers both at locally and abroad who want their article to be published in the journal Acta Aquatica: Aquatic Sciences Journal, it is felt necessary to increase the publications issues in each volume starting in 2021 namely April, August, and December each year. The number of articles in each issue is 15 - 20 articles.

Starting on 24 May 2023 Acta Aquatica has implemented an agreement to publish third party content online within CABI Full-Text products. The contents of the agreement can be viewed and downloaded at collaboration menu on the Acta Aqutica page at the right-side of the display.

Since May 16, 2024, the Acta Aquatica Journal has been collaborating with EBSCO Publishing to disseminate each article released. The contents of the agreement can be viewed and downloaded at collaboration menu on the Acta Aqutica page at the right-side of the display.

In 2024 the Acta Aquatica Journal: Aquatic Sciences Journal is still accreditated Sinta 3 from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education with Decree Number: 177/E/KPT/2024.
