Abstract

PT. Mora Niaga Jaya is a company engaged in the plantation and palm oil processing industry located in Rantau District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. Based on the research findings, the CPO production process in this company has not fully met quality standards, particularly in the parameters of moisture content, impurity content, and DOBI value, which indicate a high level of oil quality degradation. This study aims to implement the Six Sigma method to control CPO quality by identifying the main causes of defects, reducing defect levels, decreasing the Defect Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) value, and improving the sigma level of the production process quality. The analytical method used is Six Sigma with the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) approach. In the Define stage, the SIPOC diagram identification revealed errors in raw material selection that affected CPO quality. The Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics identified were FFA 3.0%, moisture content 0.25%, impurity content 0.25%, and DOBI 2.3%. The Measure stage produced DPMO values of 48,457 for FFA, 370,700 for moisture content, 38,364 for impurity content, and 348,300 for DOBI, with a total DPMO of 805,821 and a sigma level of 1.69. The Analyze stage showed that the dominant defect originated from impurity content (59%), followed by DOBI (31%) and moisture content (10%). The Improve stage was carried out using the 5W+1H approach, while the Control stage was implemented to sustain improvements in order to reduce DPMO and continuously increase the sigma level.
