- XYZ is a business engaged in transportation services with its head office located at Jalan Pase, Labi-Labi Terminal Complex, Lhokseumawe City. Currently, the fleet operated by PT. XYZ has reached the age of 6 years and will soon approach the expected life of the vehicle, which is 7 years. As the age of the vehicle increases, engine performance begins to decline, which causes operational costs to increase. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the operational age and economic life of the vehicle at PT. XYZ as a basis for making fleet replacement decisions. This research was conducted using the average total annual cost method, followed by forecasting using the linear method, and calculating the operational age, followed by forecasting using the cyclical method. The research process begins by collecting data on the amount of fuel used, vehicle maintenance costs, operator costs, insurance costs, administration costs, and installment costs. The minimum average annual cost is IDR 475,859,128 which occurs at the age of six years (2024), based on the calculation of the average total annual cost. The economic life of the vehicle is set at the 6th year because in this period, the lowest average total annual cost is achieved, and after that the costs begin to increase. The results of the total cost analysis show that the operational life of the minibus vehicle is 9 years, namely until 2027. By knowing the economic life and operational life of the vehicle, the company is advised to plan fleet replacement to avoid inefficient increases in operational costs and maintain the smooth service of the Lhokseumawe–Medan route.
