Abstract

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to know the influences of economic growth and total population on human development index in Simalungun district. The data used in this research is secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for 20 years from 2001 - 2020. The data analysis method used in this research is multiple linear regression. The result of the research showed that (1) The variable of economic growth had a negative effect on the human development index. (2) The variable of total population had a negative effect on the human development index. (3) The variables
of economic growth and total population simultaneously affect the human development index.
