Pengaruh Kepadatan Populasi Dan Periode Penyimpanan Terhadap Pertumbuhan Populasi Sitophilus oryzae (L.) Dan Kerusakan Sorgum
Abstract
Sorgum merupakan sumber pangan alternatif setelah beras karena memiliki keunggulan komparatif terhadap serealia lainnya. Sorgum mempunyai kandungan karbohidrat dan protein yang tinggi dibandingkan dengan beras. Kerusakan pascapanen sorgum yang paling banyak terjadi selama proses penyimpanan terjadi karena adanya serangan hama Sitophilus oryzae. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mempelajari kerusakan sorgum berdasarkan perbedaan kepadatan populasi S. oryzae dan periode penyimpanan sorgum. Parameter pengujian meliputi periode penyimpanan selama 40, 60, 80, 100, dan 120 hari serta kepadatan populasi S. oryzae yang yaitu 5, 10, 15,20, dan 25 pasang imago/150 g sorgum. Setiap perlakuan dengan empat ulangan sehingga terdapat 20 satuan unit percobaan. Parameter pengamatan meliputi populasi, kerusakan, dan peningkatan kadar air sorgum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepadatan populasi awal S. oryzae dan periode penyimpanan sorgum mempengaruhi populasi, susut berat, dan peningkatan kadar air sorgum. Kepadatan populasi 25 pasang imago per 150 g sorgum dapat meningkatkan populasi, persentase susut berat, dan kadar air sorgum. Periode penyimpanan sorgum selama 120 hari dapat meningkatkan populasi, persentase susut berat, dan kadar air sorgum.
