Abstract

Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease that not only impacts physical health but also psychological and social well-being. The long-term treatment process, drug side effects, and stigma from the surrounding community often cause emotional stress in patients. This condition requires psychological resilience, known as resilience, to survive and adapt. This study aims to describe resilience in tuberculosis patients in Langkat Regency. The study used a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. The study subjects were four active tuberculosis patients undergoing outpatient treatment and were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that resilience in tuberculosis patients is reflected in their ability to manage emotions, control impulses, maintain optimism, understand the causes of problems, demonstrate empathy, have confidence in their abilities, and seek social support. Patients were able to accept their condition and remain committed to treatment. This study concludes that resilience plays a crucial role in helping tuberculosis patients survive and adapt during the treatment process.
