Abstract

This study aims to determine the work-life balance of male lecturers at
Malikussaleh University. The method used is descriptive quantitative. Data
collection uses an instrument modified from the work-life balance dimensions
proposed by Fisher. The research respondents were 192 male lecturers at
Malikussaleh University who were determined by purposive sampling technique
from a total population of 385 lecturers. The results show that (65.6%) male
lecturers at Malikussaleh University have a work-life balance in the moderate
category and (17.7%) male lecturers at Malikussaleh University have a work-life
balance in the high category. This means that male lecturers are quite capable of
maintaining a balance between work and personal life, although not yet fully
optimal. This condition is caused by the high workload, professional demands, and
role conflict between academic responsibilities and personal life which causes
reduced time for non-work activities.
