Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between loneliness and internet addiction in generation Z in Lhokseumawe City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a sample size of 385 respondents. Sampling in this study used a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling type. Data collection used a Likert scale, namely a loneliness scale modified based on aspects by Russel (1996) and a modification of the internet addiction scale compiled based on aspects from Young (2017). The results of data analysis using the person product moment parametric correlation technique with a correlation coefficient (r) value of 0.576 with a p value = 0.000 (p <0.05). This shows that there is a positive relationship between loneliness and internet addiction in generation Z in Lhokseumawe City. This means that Ha is accepted, there is a relationship between loneliness and internet addiction in generation Z in Lhokseumawe City.
