Abstract

This study aims to determine the self-adjustment of students from java island who are studying at Malikussaleh University. The research method used is descriptive quantitative method. The sampling technique is non-probability sampling, using an existing samples, namely is total sampling or census technique. The subjects consisted of 99 Javanese students studying at Malikussaleh University. The results showed that the self-adjustment of Javanese students was poor, with a percentage of 48.5%. This means that Javanese students are less able to react and behave efficiently in new environmental conditions with various obstacles. The results also mentioned that self-adjustment in male tends to be poor with a percentage of 39.1%, and self-adjustment in female tends to be poor with a percentage of 50.9%. These results indicate that Java experience considerable difficulty in adapting to the social, cultural, and academic environment at Malikussaleh University.
