Publication Ethics

Jurnal Sosiologi Dialektika Sosial is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers—are expected to adhere to ethical principles to ensure the integrity, transparency, and trustworthiness of scholarly publishing.

Authors’ Responsibilities

  • Authors must ensure that their manuscripts represent original work, have not been published elsewhere, and are not under consideration by other journals.

  • All sources and prior work must be appropriately cited to avoid plagiarism.

  • Authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest and financial support related to their research.

  • All data presented should be accurate and verifiable; fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.

  • Authors should comply with ethical standards concerning research involving human or animal subjects, including obtaining necessary approvals and informed consent.

Editors’ Responsibilities

  • Editors are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and ensuring impartial and fair evaluation.

  • Editorial decisions are based solely on the manuscript’s academic merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

  • Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.

  • The editorial team will take appropriate measures in cases of suspected misconduct, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices.

Reviewers’ Responsibilities

  • Reviewers should provide timely, objective, and constructive assessments while maintaining confidentiality of the manuscript content.

  • They must disclose any conflicts of interest that may bias their review and decline the assignment if such conflicts exist.

  • Reviewers are expected to evaluate the manuscript rigorously and fairly, focusing on the validity of the research, clarity of presentation, and relevance.

Handling Misconduct

  • The journal follows COPE’s flowcharts and recommendations to address suspected cases of plagiarism, data fabrication, authorship disputes, or unethical behavior.

  • When misconduct is confirmed, corrective actions may include manuscript rejection, retraction, or publication of corrections and statements of concern.

  • All parties will be informed transparently throughout the investigation process.

Confidentiality and Privacy

  • All information regarding manuscripts under consideration is confidential and must not be disclosed to unauthorized parties.

  • Personal data collected during the publication process is handled in accordance with data protection laws and policies.

By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Sosiologi Dialektika Sosial, authors agree to comply with these ethical standards and cooperate fully with the journal’s policies to uphold research integrity.
