Aim and Scope

Jurnal Agrium (Journal of Agricultural Research) aims to advance knowledge and practice in the agricultural sciences by publishing high-quality, rigorously peer-reviewed research that is methodologically sound, ethically conducted, and impactful for science, practice, and policy. The journal serves academics, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers by:

  • Disseminating new findings from basic and applied research across crop and soil systems, plant health, production technologies, and agri-food value chains.
  • Synthesizing evidence through critical and systematic reviews and meta-analyses that clarify the state of the art and set agendas for future research.
  • Bridging science and practice by highlighting innovations that improve productivity, resilience, sustainability, and farmer livelihoods.
  • Encouraging open, transparent scholarship through clear reporting, reproducible methods, appropriate statistics, and responsible data sharing (where permissible).
  • Promoting interdisciplinary approaches that integrate biophysical, technological, and socio-economic perspectives on agriculture.

The journal publishes high-quality manuscripts covering basic and applied research, as well as critical reviews, across the following thematic areas:

    • Agronomy & Crop Physiology: cropping systems, resource-use efficiency (water, light, nutrients), intercropping, cover crops, yield gap analysis.
    • Plant Breeding & Genetics: conventional and molecular breeding, QTL/GWAS, genomic selection, seed science/technology, tissue culture.
    • Horticulture & Plantation Crops: fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, and estate crops (e.g., oil palm, rubber, cocoa, coffee, tea).
  2. Soil, Nutrients & Environment
    • Soil Science & Plant Nutrition: soil fertility, amendments, rhizosphere processes, nutrient cycling, fertilizer innovations, soil health indicators.
    • Agroecology & Sustainability: biodiversity and ecosystem services, conservation agriculture, regenerative practices, circular bioeconomy.

Systems & Geography. The journal welcomes studies from tropical and subtropical systems (global relevance encouraged), spanning smallholder to commercial scales and open-field, protected, peri-urban, or urban agriculture.

Generally Out of Scope. Submissions lacking scientific rigor (e.g., purely descriptive reports without analysis) or topics unrelated to agricultural systems will not be considered.
