Repository Policy

In accordance with the Journal of Marine Studies Open Access Policy, authors are strongly encouraged to disseminate and archive their published works across appropriate academic and public platforms. All articles published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license may be shared, redistributed, and reused, provided that full and accurate attribution is given to the journal as the original source of publication.

1. Author Rights and Responsibilities

Authors retain the copyright of their published works. However, when redistributing, posting, or archiving their articles, authors must ensure that:

  • The Journal of Marine Studies is clearly identified as the original publisher.
  • A complete and accurate citation of the published article is included, including the article title, author(s), journal name, volume, issue, article numbers, and DOI.
  • No alterations are made that could misrepresent the published version or its content.

2. Self-Archiving and Repository Deposit

Authors are required to deposit the Version of Record (VoR) of their published article, along with its unique DOI or permanent URL, in any suitable repository or academic domain. This includes:

  • Institutional repositories maintained by universities or research institutions;
  • Disciplinary repositories (e.g., subject-specific databases);
  • Personal or departmental websites, provided proper citation and DOI linkage are maintained.

3. Benefits of Repository Deposit

Self-archiving and repository deposition significantly enhance the accessibility, discoverability, and citation impact of scholarly work. These practices support the principles of open science by facilitating broader academic collaboration and knowledge exchange, thereby benefiting both individual researchers and the wider scholarly community.

4. Compliance and Verification

The editorial office may periodically verify repository deposits to ensure compliance with this policy. Authors are encouraged to provide the repository link at the time of submission or upon publication for record-keeping and indexing purposes.

For further guidance on repository selection or proper citation format, authors may consult the editorial team at joms@unimal.ac.id.
