Plagiarism Screening
As part of our publication process, all submitted articles to the Journal of Marine Studies (JoMS) undergo rigorous plagiarism screening to detect any potential instances of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or other forms of academic misconduct. Manuscripts submitted to JoMS will be screened using plagiarism detection tools to compare the text with a wide range of academic sources, including databases, previously published papers, and web content. The level of tolerance of similarity should be lower than 15 percent, and If more than the level of similarity, the editor will reject submitted articles. If substantial similarities are found between the submitted manuscript and existing publications, the author will be contacted and may be required to make revisions or provide a detailed explanation regarding the similarity.
Authors are expected to ensure that their work is entirely original and properly referenced. Any form of plagiarism, including the use of others' ideas, research, or data without appropriate citation, will not be tolerated and may result in immediate rejection of the manuscript. Furthermore, the journal reserves the right to report severe cases of plagiarism to the author's institution or relevant academic bodies for further investigation.
JoMS encourages authors to perform their own plagiarism checks before submission to minimize the risk of unintentional overlap with existing works. Any previously published content, including direct quotations, figures, or substantial paraphrasing, must be fully cited, and appropriate permissions should be obtained where required.
