Focus and Scope
Journal of Marine Studies (JoMS) publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research that advances understanding of marine systems, processes, and resources at global, regional, and local scales. The journal welcomes a wide range of scholarly contributions, including original research articles, review papers, short communications, perspective essays, methodological innovations, case studies, and data papers (see Types of Articles).
JoMS serves as a platform for disseminating interdisciplinary and innovative research across the full spectrum of marine and ocean sciences. The journal seeks to promote scientific knowledge that enhances the sustainable management and conservation of marine environments and their associated resources.
Areas of Interest
The journal covers a comprehensive range of topics related to marine environments, including but not limited to:
- Oceanography – biological, chemical, and physical aspects
- Marine biotechnology
- Marine biodiversity and living resources
- Marine geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing
- Marine geology, sedimentology, and geophysics
- Marine pollution, contaminants, and ecosystem health
- Marine fisheries science
- Marine policy and governance
- Mariculture systems
- Marine genomics and molecular ecology
- Marine management and conservation strategies
- Marine technology and instrumentation
- Marine climatology and ocean-atmosphere interactions
- Marine paleontology and paleoceanography
- Coastal and estuarine processes

Interdisciplinary Emphasis
JoMS particularly encourages submissions that integrate knowledge across multiple disciplines of marine science. Studies that connect physical, biological, chemical, and social dimensions of the marine environment are especially valued for their contribution to comprehensive ocean understanding and sustainable marine resource management.
