Submission Guidelines for Authors
Aceh Anthropological Journal (AAJ) is a biannual peer-reviewed journal, publishing two issues per year in April and October. Each issue features a selective number of high-quality research articles (typically up to seven) that make significant contributions to the field of Anthropology, particularly with emphasis on Indonesian and Acehnese contexts.
1. Originality and Publication Ethics
-
Manuscripts submitted to AAJ must be original works of the authors and must not have been published or submitted concurrently elsewhere (journals, conferences, or media).
-
Authors are required to sign a Statement of Originality and Exclusive Submission, affirming that the manuscript adheres to these ethical standards.
-
Any form of plagiarism, duplicate publication, or data fabrication will result in immediate rejection and possible notification to relevant institutions.
-
Manuscripts must comply with ethical guidelines regarding research involving human subjects or animals, including obtaining necessary approvals and informed consents.
2. Manuscript Scope and Content
-
Submitted manuscripts must align with the journal’s Focus and Scope, which centers on empirical and theoretical anthropological research emphasizing ethnographic, qualitative, cultural, ecological, and humanitarian studies relevant to Indonesia, Aceh, and global contexts.
-
Contributions from interdisciplinary perspectives related to Anthropology are welcome provided they maintain scholarly rigor and relevance.
3. Language and Writing Style
-
Manuscripts may be submitted in either Bahasa Indonesia or English.
-
Submissions must exhibit high standards of academic writing, including clarity, coherence, and correct grammar. Manuscripts with poor language quality may be returned for revision or rejected.
-
Authors are encouraged to seek professional language editing services if necessary to meet the journal’s quality standards.
4. Manuscript Format
-
Manuscripts should be prepared using Microsoft Word format (*.doc or .docx). Other acceptable formats include OpenOffice, RTF, or WordPerfect.
-
The length of the manuscript should generally be between 4000 and 6000 words, excluding references and appendices.
-
Manuscripts must be typed with 1.5 line spacing, using Cambria font size 12 on A4 paper. Margins should be set to 3 cm on all sides (top, bottom, left, right).
-
Manuscripts should be structured into clearly marked sections including: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments (if any), and References.
-
All figures, tables, and illustrations should be embedded within the manuscript at appropriate points, with clear captions and numbering. Avoid placing them all at the end.
5. Double-Blind Peer Review Policy
-
AAJ employs a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartiality.
-
Authors must remove all identifying information from the manuscript file, including names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and any self-references that may reveal identity.
-
Personal details and contact information should be provided only in the submission metadata within the OJS system.
6. Abstract Requirements

Authors must provide abstracts in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.

-
Clearly articulate the research objectives or questions.
